Hurricane Ida Impacts Westwego Site
On the day, 16 years after hurricane Katrina, hurricane Ida rolled into the Louisiana area on August 29, impacting our Westwego production site. As a precautionary measure (and in accordance with hurricane preparedness and safety procedures) Westwego was shut down in advance of this powerful hurricane.
Electrical supply has now been restored to the Westwego site by the local electrical utility. It will be a few days before electricity can safely be distributed to all utilities and site consumers. Once utilities are fully restored to all site operations, the plant can begin preparations and testing for start-up. We anticipate residual issues to be identified as we continue this process.
The Röhm team continues to make every effort to ensure a quick and safe re-start of production. However, a precise start-up date cannot be provided at this time due to many remaining tests and preparations.
We understand how critical this is to our customers and will continue to provide additional updates in the coming days
