Brexit: Preparations for substance registrations on schedule
Brexit, the UK's withdrawal from the EU, took effect on January 1, 2021. This development also has an impact on the registration of substances that Röhm exports to and imports from the UK. The Product Stewardship department is making sure that everything goes according to plan.
As the United Kingdom is now a non-EU country, the previously valid registrations under the EU chemicals regulation REACH (= Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) are no longer valid. All products and substances intended for export into the UK must therefore be registered once again: an extensive procedure with global relevance that is scheduled to take several years. Röhm is perfectly in line with preparations on this highly complex topic. We appointed a so-called “Only-Representative” on behalf of a legal entity in Great Britain to ensure further registration activities.
Moreover, customer information on Brexit has been prepared to support ongoing business and address questions on the customer side. In addition, Röhm led by its experienced Product Stewardship department looks beyond the UK and the EU. Substance registration is a global topic in which Röhm is highly qualified and right on track.
