Röhm increases run rates at its European plants in Worms and Wesseling
Happy New Year from the Marketing & Sales Team of Röhm Methacrylates!
Röhm is the leading MMA and Methacrylate Monomer producer in Europe with two complementary production sites in Worms and Wesseling. In 2022, Röhm had reduced its production rates in Europe due to high energy and raw material cost as well as weakness in demand across the regions (2HY 2022), triggered by the Ukraine war and an unusually large de-stocking effect at the end of the year. We thank our loyal customers for their support during these turbulent times in 2022. Now, after months of much reduced production and an extended turnaround in Worms, Röhm has increased its production to accommodate the demand going into 2023.
With recently mild winter temperatures, LNG storage levels moderately high, and new LNG terminals in Germany operational, prices for energy and related materials started to normalize in the last weeks from their 2022 peak levels. Following these notations, Röhm’s competitiveness has improved going into Q1 2023, but a cloud of uncertainty and volatility still hangs over the methacrylate industry.
With our European production, we are dedicated to serve our European customers with a local product reliably, sustainably and competitively. In addition, our regular customer surveys show high customer satisfaction results especially with regards to the commitment of our highly motivated sales and customer service teams.
Röhm is also aware of its responsibility and the importance of sustainability. Therefore, a new sustainability department has been created which works together with the MERACRYL® business unit on the development of sustainable concepts and their implementation, including the area of circular economy. This holds true for Europe, but also has a global scope. In December 2022, Röhm has received an ECOVADIS Gold rating.
